HELP US BE APART OF A SMALL SOLUTION

Join Us in Our Effort to Protect the Sacred River

Dear HUOMN Warriors,

We hope this message finds you well on your journey to nourish your mind, body, and spirit.

We’re excited to share a meaningful project we’re working on at HUOMN. Our sanctuary sits beside a sacred river in Sukawati, once used for cremation ceremonies, but sadly, it has now become a dumping ground for waste. Despite our efforts to clean it, the garbage keeps returning.

In partnership with Sungai Watch, we are sponsoring a plastic collection buoy near the bridge many of you have walked across. This system will prevent waste from traveling downriver and into the ocean. Sungai Watch will handle daily cleanups, sorting, and recycling with their team of over 140 local river warriors.

We’re reaching out to see if you'd be willing to support this initiative with a donation to cover the cost of installing the buoy and one year of services. Your contribution will help us make a significant impact on reducing pollution in our village through our 3 step plan.

If you’d like to be part of this effort, we’d be deeply grateful. Please find more details and our donation link below.

With love and gratitude, Ky & Lolo

3-Step Action Plan for River Cleanup Initiative

We are excited to announce our efforts to restore the sacred river near HUOMN, in partnership with Sungai Watch. Our 3-step plan will be executed in Q4 2024 and Q1 2025, with the goal of reducing waste pollution and promoting community engagement.

Step 1: Sponsorship Partnership with Sungai Watch

  • Objective: Install a plastic collection buoy to prevent trash from flowing downstream.

  • Cost: $3,500 USD for manufacturing, installation, and daily maintenance, including garbage removal.

  • Ongoing: Annual maintenance costs will be reduced to $2,100 USD after year one.

Step 2: Roll-Off Dumpster and Educational Campaign

  • Objective: Place a dumpster at the bridge with educational signs and materials, encouraging proper trash disposal.

  • Cost: $1,200 - $1,500 USD for the first year.

  • Action: Monthly disposal of trash at a separation station.

Step 3: Local Ambassador Team Formation

  • Objective: Create a team of 3 young adults from the village to lead smaller cleanup projects, recruit volunteers, educate the community, and solicit donations.

  • Cost: $800 USD per month.

  • Role: This team will be essential for managing the long-term sustainability of the cleanup effort.

Funding Goal:

Our initial goal is to raise $4,700 USD to cover:

  • $3,500 USD for the sponsored buoy

  • $1,200 USD for the dumpster and disposal budget

Once this phase is in place, we’ll focus on forming the educational ambassador team and expanding our systems for village-wide involvement.

What You Can Expect:

  • For all donors, we will provide a promotional video showcasing the buoy system and regular progress reports on each step of the plan.

  • A quarterly report will detail the collective progress made in preventing garbage from entering the watershed.
